Military appreciation month ended with a somber Memorial Day service at the Forsyth Cemetery. The American Legion, the American Legion Riders, the American Legion auxiliary, the sons of the American Legion, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) contributed to the purchase and installation of the statues of service men and women of each of the following military services: Army, Air Force, Marines, Navy, and Coast Guard. On Saturday, the Montana Warriors on the Water hosted a 5 K run, corn hole tournament, and a poker run. The non-profit organization ended the day with a dinner provided by Cowboy meat Company and a live auction. It was a fun day for a worthwhile cause. All proceeds go to support the Montana Warriors on the Water, providing outdoor recreational therapy and opportunities to U.S. veterans. We recognized D-Day on the 6th of June. Seventy-nine years ago, the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom troops stormed the beaches of Normandy in Northern France. The Allied invasion began the campaign to take back control of Europe from the Nazis. If you know of someone who was there, please share their stories. By sharing their stories, we can keep their memories alive.
