ALWAYS LOOKING FOR AN ADVENTUREGrowing up in a small Texas coastal town, I always wanted to do more, see more, be more. So it's no wonder, after hearing the Army motto, BE ALL YOU CAN BE, that I joined the military. Who would have guessed that I would actually retire from the military after 30 years? Graduating from the University of Texas @ San Antonio in 1984 with a Finance degree, you would think that I would be a Finance Officer. That's not what the Army wanted. I started my Army career as an Ammunition Officer, spending the first 8 years on active duty. First Germany then Fort Hood, Texas. As a single mom, I thought it would be better for me leave active duty and focus on my son. Plus, I just got married to my soul mate. We moved to Mico Texas and spent the next 23 years living there with horses, chickens and dogs. At one point I think we had about 10 dogs. We even tried raising German Shorthair dogs, breeding two times but after the last breeding, we decided we didn't have the time or resources to breed quality dogs. I went back to school and graduated with a nursing degree in 2001. Two days after graduation, I was back on active duty and spent the next twelve years on mobilization orders. South Carolina, Iraq, Ft Hood, Ft Bliss, Kuwait and Afghanistan. Promoting from Major, to full bird Colonel within those 12 years. Well that's my story and I'm sticking to it.
